What your policy probably covers

Glass claims are paid under comprehensive coverage, not liability or collision. If you carry comprehensive, damage from a rock on the highway, vandalism, or a break-in is normally covered.

Washington is not a zero-deductible glass state — insurers here are not required to waive your deductible on a windshield replacement. But two things frequently work in your favor: many policies carry a separate, lower glass deductible, and many carriers waive the deductible entirely for a chip repair because it is far cheaper than the replacement it prevents. That is why we always check repair eligibility first.

You choose who does the work

Insurers maintain networks and will often steer you toward one. In Washington you have the right to choose your own glass shop, and choosing a local one does not change your coverage or your deductible.

We are happy to work inside the network process. We take the claim number, submit the invoice, document the parts and the ADAS recalibration, and follow up on payment ourselves.

Filing a claim with us: the whole process

  • Call us first, before the carrier. We look at the damage and tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement, and roughly what each would cost.
  • Decide whether a claim makes sense. If the repair costs less than your deductible, paying cash is cheaper and keeps the claim off your record. We will say so.
  • We file or you file. Either works. We need your carrier, policy number, and the claim number once it exists.
  • We bill the carrier. Invoice, part numbers, labor, and calibration documentation go straight to the insurer. You pay only the deductible, if any.
  • You get the documentation. Invoice, warranty, and pre- and post-scan ADAS reports for your records.

Will a glass claim raise my rates?

Comprehensive glass claims are treated as not-at-fault by most carriers and generally do not affect your premium the way an at-fault collision does. Frequency can matter — several claims in a short span may come up at renewal.

We are not your insurance agent and we will not pretend to be. For anything policy-specific, your agent is the right call. What we can tell you is what the repair costs, what the replacement costs, and which one your damage actually needs.

Frequently asked

Does Washington waive the deductible for windshield replacement?+
No. Washington does not require insurers to waive glass deductibles, unlike a handful of other states. Many policies do carry a separate lower glass deductible, and many carriers waive it for a chip repair, so it is always worth checking before you pay out of pocket.
Can my insurer make me use a specific glass shop?+
No. They can recommend a network shop, but the choice of who repairs your vehicle is yours. Using us does not change your coverage or your deductible.
Do I have to pay you up front and get reimbursed?+
Not usually. We bill most carriers directly, so you pay only your deductible if one applies.
Is ADAS recalibration covered under a glass claim?+
Generally yes, because it is a required step in the manufacturer's replacement procedure. We document it separately on the invoice so the carrier can see it was performed.
